Sri Ramakrishna Temple

ll ॐ नमो भगवते रामकृष्णाय ll

Dear Bhaktas,

The auspicious day is drawing near, for we shall behold Thakurji's divine form in our beautiful Shrine! Come all ye, we invite...

The last time you saw the Shikhara and the domes in their splendour. How was it all made? The topmost 13 feet high dome sits atop a pillar and brick thin masonery 10 feet high. The construction itself is unique - not RCC (concrete) but a Ferro-cement casting. A little light steel framework, with an overlay of Chicken-wire mesh and cement-mortar mix is pasted on!  It is a third as light as concrete, but strong enough! Indeed, it was a challenge to cast one of this size, but there you are! We bring you pictures of how a smaller dome was cast, and also how the Shikhara arose.....
Let us steal a look inside the Shikhara. A steel staircase winds its way up the well and finally across to the summit, from where a ladder lets one squeeze up into the Prakasha-stambha mounted on top. A powerful lamp is placed here, telling everyone the location of Thakurji, once it is dusk... for Jyotira-jyoti Ujala Hrdi-kandhara resides here!
Some exclusive pictures of the  same... and a look through the 'eyes' of that light-house perched dizzyingly high up!
The main Sanctum is covered by an immediate dome above the canopy, separating it from the well of the Shikhara. The Shikhara is indeed so beautiful, that the Sun seems to adore it, in obeissance to Sri Guru Maharaj at every sunset.. they say light 'bends' in diffraction.... yes, without distraction... that we  may savour an ethereal sight..

We shall leave you with these images, and more appended, and come again soon... You can also access the entire posting by just clicking at this link:
